Tigers Jump The Roos

The Tigers had their last game of the 2024 home and away season at GSA yesterday and ran out convincing winners against the visiting Kingdom Kangaroos, with a final score line of 18.18.126 vs. 11.12.78.

Sluggish starts have been a feature of a few Tiger games this season, so the players were pretty focused on being switched on from the very start of the game, and this meant that a lead they established in the first quarter of the game was never really seriously challenged by the visiting Roos.

The Roos brought their trademark physical intensity to the game for the whole four quarters and managed to string together numerous passages of play that kept their scoreboard ticking over.

However, the Tigers were generally in control for most of the day, and in finishing the regular season with a win secure second spot on the AFL Scotland ladder, and earn themselves a trip back up to Edinburgh in a couple of weeks time to take on the undefeated Edinburgh Bloods in Week One of the AFL Scotland Final Series.

A big congratulations to ‘veteran’ Harry Telfer, who despite his youthfully innocent boyish good looks actually played his 50thgame in Tiger colours yesterday – Haz didn’t manage to kick a goal yesterday (at least, not on the field), but he was in fine form when I last saw him at about 20.30 last night, and was in the safe company of a number of Tiger brethren.

Well done mate, but just a hint that club sponsors ‘Webster & Carr’ are fantastic barbers if ever you fancy a trim! (Just sayin, like!...).

But all of that was yesterday. We thank the Roos for travelling down from Fife for the game, but the pointy end of the season starts now, so we recover today and get back to work at training this Wednesday at 18.30pm.

Carn the Tiges!
