Preview: Tigers Vs. Glasgow Giants
Head Coach Chris Rodger is positive ahead the Tigers delayed start to the season at home to the Glasgow Giants tomorrow (Saturday 27th).
Following the postponement of last weekend’s game at West Lothian Eagles, which should have kicked off the Tigers AFL Scotland campaign, Rodger believes it’s more of a positive for the team despite the circumstances;
“I think it’s given the boys a bit of a lift actually. After not playing it’s bonded everyone together so they’re ready to go for this Saturday. I think it’s been a positive.”
Tomorrow’s opponents, the Glasgow Giants did get their season underway last weekend, suffering an 86 point defeat at the hands of the Edinburgh Bloods. Despite the Giants not getting off to the best of starts, Rodger is keen to assure his side don’t rest easy.
“They got beaten quite badly by the Bloods but they were with them at half-time so anything could happen.
“We’re going to have to go hard straight away and make the game ours early on.”
After running tight on numbers last weekend should the game have gone ahead, the Tigers have a stronger squad at their disposal to take on the Giants.
“We’ve got a full squad and a bit more, so for the first time in a while we’ll possibly have blokes not playing. It’s a big positive so we’re ready to go.”
Bounce for the first game of the Tigers AFL Scotland season is 2pm at the Gosforth Sports Association.
