2017 AFLCNE Lightning round 1 vs Mozzies and Saints @ GSA
After a schedule reshuffle and now up against reigning premiers Manchester the boys knew it was going to be an interesting arvo of footy.
No one could predict that it would end up being one of the most successful days the club had been involved in.
With the big man Pat gracing us for the first time in the home and away season it gave the boys a good solid focus up forward and with Crafty, Brady and Gus and Roy zipping around like fly's in the outback it was always going to be tough for whoever we came up against.
First half saw the tigers kick 2 quick goals and we all knew the mozzies were there for the taking!!
The rain turned to drizzle but even that didn't dampen the tiger resolve and pressure.
Sure it wasn't the prettiest of games but who wants pretty!!
With Stevie A rebounding anything in his sight and a bench full of attitude and willing the Tigers were never headed.
Rain stopped and so did the Mozzies, they knew they were done and was great to see their heads start to drop as the Tigers continued to smash the ball forward.
The most positive part was that we didn't play even close to our full potential but still had enough to beat the reigning premiers by a couple goals!!
Manchester Mozzies beaten down to a crisp!!
Game 2 saw the Tiger's up against Mersey who were struggling with numbers but were topped up with a bit of quality from Nottingham.
After an hours break after Manchester game the boys were ready!!
From the first bounce it was obvious the Tigers were never going to let this one slip!
Patty was kicking them from all parts of the ground and ended up with 12....equaling the club record and Brady started to get back to the form we knew he had in him after pulling a heart muscle pre season!!
Morgs was pushing through packs and Bish even popped up with a goal!!
Rotations were constant and so were the goals.
Liam bagged a few and Crafty nearly bagged one for Notts….earning our dick of the day easily!!
All the fellas put in and closed the game out early.
Matty did well down back again looking like he's played the game for a few seasons...even having a bit of time up front and nearly kicking his first goal for the Tiger's.
Tigers ending up winning by a very comfortable 80 points finishing off a great day for the club and one that we all deserved after a tough but positive start to the season!
