Tyne Tees Tigers 9.19 (73) defeated by Sheffield Thunder 15.14 (104)
Well the Tigers travelled down to Manchester to play Sheffield Thunder on Saturday which turned out to be our wettest match so far this season. Again our squad was very thin having to borrow a player each from Manchester and Hudds. Tigers hit the ground running with Chris M snaring 2 quick goals before Craig completely destroyed his fingers dislocating 3 and breaking 1. That was indicative of the level of commitment and courage the boys showed in all quarters. The Thunder hit back and ended the quarter up by 11 points. As the rain came down the boys dug deep and played some fantastic footy ending the half 2 points up. With our bench stretched we had some very tired tigers smashing through their 2nd wind and beyond. Fatigue was a real factor in not capitalising on our chances in front of goal as the coaches tried to rotate the bench as much as possible to give the boys a breather, but the Thunder kicked away to again lead by 16 at 3 quarter time. Looking for one last push for the last quarter the Tigers were right in it midway through the last but the Thunder finally kicked away winning by 31 points. Some great performances by all with Morgs dominating at full back, Trav providing run and Dan giving everything all day. Some massive positives from all 4 quarters with aggression, commitment and determination shown by all. Thunder would have woken up sore Sunday morning!! Footnote. Craig on the mend with no surgery needed, we all wish him well and look forward to seeing him out at the club soon.
